The Free Store
Poverty Reduction through community collaboration
How it works
The Free Store is currently a virtual store and pop-up store/ outreach program. The 'store' uses community sourced donations to provide free basic items to anyone in need. Anyone can contact us directly or by referral to make a request for their most needed items and we will do our best to source them.
By Request
You can make a request to our online store and our team of volunteers will get back to you as soon as we can and let you know if we can fulfill your request or we can connect you with another service. We can arrange to have items picked up, we can meet you somewhere convenient or drop it off. Let's make a plan!
Community Donations
This program runs entirely on community generosity and self sufficiency! We would love your donations of gently used items or cash donations to fill the store. If you or your organization would like to make a donation to the free store, please contact us for pick up or delivery arrangements at info@vancouverislandsocialjusticesociety.com. You can also purchase items for the free store through our amazon wishlist!
Pop-Up Free Store Events
The Free Store is also a bi-weekly pop-up event for outreach support. We can be found in downtown Nanaimo handing out much needed FREE items.
